FAQs

Answers to the questions I get asked most. If yours isn't here, just get in touch.

What should I wear, and do I need to undress?

Wear something comfortable that's easy to get on and off. Oils are used during your treatment, so please bear in mind that a small amount may transfer onto your clothing afterwards. If your treatment includes assisted stretching, non-restrictive clothing is recommended.

For a full-body massage, you'll usually be asked to undress to your underwear. You'll be appropriately covered with towels throughout, with only the area being treated exposed. Your comfort and privacy are always a priority.

How early should I arrive for my first appointment?

Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment so we can get you settled and ready to begin, allowing you to enjoy the full duration of your treatment.

What happens at my first appointment? Is there a consultation form?

When you book, you'll be sent a consultation form to complete before your appointment. This provides me with the information I need to ensure your treatment is safe and suitable for you. We can also discuss anything relevant when you arrive, including any areas of discomfort or particular goals you have for your treatment.

Which treatment should I choose if I'm not sure?

If you're unsure which treatment would suit you best, you're welcome to get in touch before booking. I'm happy to help you choose between relaxation, deep tissue, sports massage, cupping or assisted stretching based on your needs and preferences.

Can I choose how firm the pressure is?

Absolutely. Everyone has different preferences, and pressure can be adjusted throughout your treatment. Deep tissue massage doesn't have to be painful to be effective, and I always encourage you to speak up if you'd like more or less pressure.

How often should I book a massage?

For many clients, booking a massage every four weeks is a great way to make massage a regular part of their wellbeing routine, helping to manage everyday muscular tension and providing dedicated time to relax and recover. However, the ideal frequency will depend on your individual needs, lifestyle and goals.

Is there anything I should or shouldn't do before or after a massage?

Before your appointment, avoid large meals immediately beforehand and try to limit stimulants such as caffeine. After your treatment, stay normally hydrated, allow yourself some time to relax and avoid strenuous exercise if you're feeling particularly tender.

Are there any reasons I shouldn't have a massage?

Certain conditions, such as fever, contagious illness, suspected blood clots or some recent injuries, may mean massage needs to be postponed or adapted. Your pre-treatment consultation form helps identify any health conditions or circumstances where massage or other treatments may not be appropriate. If anything requires further discussion, we'll go through it before your treatment.

Is there parking available?

Is the treatment room wheelchair accessible?

Is there a toilet available for clients?
